Task 1

What do you think are the major elements of an album marketing campaign? The style of the band, quality of the music and personalities of the band member/artist.

I think for a marketing campaign the overall style of the band is what people are going to be seeing first,  even before hearing their music, therefore it's quite an important factor. I like bands with a laid-back, casual style.

Where have you encountered these elements in your daily life?

Album marketing campaigns involve radio plays. I listen to the radio and hear bands being interviewed and playing their new music. Listeners are able to build up an opinion on the band based on their personalities and quality of the music they hear.

What factors make you 'like' a band and therefore download their music, buy their albums or attend their concerts? How do you decide which band is 'cool' and which is not?

Important factors:

Unique style (musically and fashion style)

Interesting personalities and likability

catchy music

For a band to be successful i don't think they need to have the most amazing voices. As long as they make good music that people like and have a slight edge to them (interesting people) then they can be successful.
